The SRF Distinguished Scientist (Anne McLaren) Award 2026 has been awarded to:

Professor Norah Spears, University of Edinburgh

I am really honoured to receive the 2026 SRF Distinguished Scientist Anne McLaren Award. Anne McLaren was one of the first scientists that I met after starting my DPhil, a regular visitor to the lab that I was working in. Her visits were always inspiring. She was not only a brilliant researcher carrying out fascinating science of the highest calibre, she was also someone who loved hearing about ongoing projects, always talking in particular to early career scientists, enjoying finding out about their work. Receiving this award means a lot to me, perhaps particularly so since it comes as I retire and move on to an emeritus position.
