BURSARY FOR SRF MEMBERS TO ATTEND

THE SOCIETY FOR THE STUDY OF REPRODUCTION (SSR)

The SSR is holding their annual conference in Dublin, Ireland on 15-19 July 2024, this is a unique opportunity for many SRF members to attend one of its Sister Societies annual conferences.  The SRF Council is pleased to announce that a fixed budget of £30,000 has been allocated to support members to attend this event.

Bursaries will only cover the Early Bird member registration fee and will be offered in order of receipt (providing the eligibility criteria are met at the time of application) until the budget limit has been reached.

  • Early Career Members will receive £380 for registration.
  • Full Members will receive £510 for registration.
  • Retired and Honorary Members (as indicated below) will receive £425.

Priority will be given to;

  • Until 31 March 2024 Early Career members who have submitted an abstract, confirmation of submission must be given at the time of application, and proof of acceptance will be requested when claiming refund reimbursement.
  • From Monday 1 April 2024, the bursary will open to all members (Full, Early Career, Retired, and Honorary) with priority given to Full members who have submitted an abstract, confirmation of submission must be given at the time of application, and proof of acceptance will be requested when claiming refund reimbursement.

Travel Grants will not be offered for attending SSR in 2024 (members must apply for a SSR Bursary ).

The SSR Bursary replaces Travel Grants for the SSR Conference and the same terms and eligibility apply.  Members who apply for an SSR Bursary will not be eligible to apply for a Travel Grant in 2024 and will not be eligible for a further 24 months from the date of the conference.

SSR Bursary Eligibility Criteria:

Early Career Members who have submitted an abstract, until 31 March 2024

  • Applications are open to Early Career members who have been SRF Members for a minimum of 24 months (at the time of the event- 15 July 2024) and have paid for at least two years of membership (i.e. must have paid for membership in 2023-2024) by 15 April 2024.
  • Please note that your supervisor may be contacted to confirm your status.
  • Early Career Members will be notified of the outcome of your application by 8 April 2024.

All Members (EC, Full, Retired* and Honorary*) from 1 – 30 April 2024

  • Applications will open from 1 April 2024.
  • Priority will be given to members who have submitted an abstract as indicated above until 30 April 2024.
  • All applicants must have been a member of SRF for a minimum of 24 months (at the time of the event- 15 July 2024) and have paid for at least two years of membership before applying (and must have paid for membership in 2023 and 2024) are eligible to apply.
  • Members will be notified of the outcome of their application by 6 May 2024.

*These members are exempt from membership payment and this requirement does not apply.

Travel, accommodation, and any other costs are the responsibility of the applicant.

Terms of SSR Bursary

  • Applicants will be required to register directly with the event organisers and will receive reimbursement for the agreed registration offer after the event on confirmation of an attendance certificate.
  • Abstract confirmation will be necessary as previously indicated to claim reimbursement.
  • Applicants will be subject to the Terms and Conditions set out by the SSR event organisers.
  • SSR bursary recipients will only be reimbursed on confirmation of attendance.
  • SRF will not hold any responsibility if the applicant is unable to attend or other eventuality.
  • Applicants for the SSR Bursary from the SRF, will not be eligible for an SRF Travel Grant in 2024 and will not be eligible for a further 24 months from the date of the conference, although they may apply for a Travel Grant after 12 months (see Travel Grant eligibility and terms for full details).
  • When applying, applicants must confirm that they have paid for membership as indicated above before applying to the Bursary Scheme, if unsure please contact the SRF Secretariat.
  • A report on the content of the meeting and the benefit to the applicant of attending is required and may be included in the newsletter or SRF website. This should be submitted at the time of your claim and may be published on the SRF website or used for other Society purposes.
  • Failure to provide this report will render applicants ineligible for future SRF bursaries and grants.
