Supporting Innovative Teaching in Reproduction and Fertility

Applications for 2026 will open in July are now closed

The SRF Educational Equipment Grant is a new initiative to support Full Members in enhancing reproductive and fertility education. This grant offers funding of up to £500 per applicant, with a potential extension to £1,000 based on cost–benefit review, to support the purchase of durable teaching equipment that enriches undergraduate and postgraduate learning.

Purpose and Scope

This grant empowers educators to purchase physical or digital teaching tools such as anatomical models, demonstration kits, interactive software, or portable teaching equipment. The equipment remains the property of the applicant, ensuring long-term impact across institutions, outreach, and academic stages.

Strategic Vision

As institutional teaching budgets tighten, this initiative fills a critical gap, supporting SRF members in actively shaping future scientists. Funded tools enhance learning, encourage curiosity, and promote SRF’s visibility and mission. It complements research support by fostering an educational ecosystem that inspires future researchers.

Key Features

  • Funding amount: Up to £500 per individual (up to £1,000 upon review)
  • Open To: Full SRF Members with at least 24 months of continuous membership
  • Ownership: Equipment remains with the member
  • Branding: Equipment must display “Supported by SRF” label

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Have been a Full Member for 24+ months
  • Must be working at an academic institution and teaching

Applications must:

  • Provide educational justification
  • Demonstrate student benefit and long-term educational use
  • Include URL link to product and price breakdown
  • Show potential for use across courses or events
  • Include a supporting statement from a colleague or manager

What Makes a Strong Application

The Grants and Membership Committee will prioritise applications that:

  • Demonstrate creativity in educational delivery or outreach
  • Identify a clear teaching or engagement gap
  • Offer high educational return-on-investment
  • Align with SRF values of science communication and student engagement
