Location

The historic, vibrant city of Winchester was England’s ancient capital and the seat of Alfred the Great. Located in the South of England, just an hour south-west of London, Winchester is packed with historic buildings, monuments and museums including The Guildhall and magnificent Cathedral. The city, surrounded by the South Downs National Park is also home to award-winning pubs, restaurants and an abundance of independent shops.

General information for travelling to Winchester

By rail: just an hour by direct train from London Waterloo, Winchester is also on direct routes from Southampton, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Weymouth, Birmingham and the north of England. Visit www.nationalrail.co.uk for routes and timetables. The University is a 15 minute walk from the station.

By road: conveniently located just off Junctions 9, 10 and 11 of the M3. Also accessible via the A34 from Newbury and Oxford. Parking is available on the University of Winchester campus on a first come-first served basis. Please indicate at the point of registration whether you will be travelling by car.

By air:

Southampton International Airport is the closest airport to Winchester. Trains run directly from Southampton Airport Parkway station to Winchester station (journey time approximately 10 minutes).
