Professor Amanda Sferruzzi-Perri

Dr. Amanda Sferruzzi-Perri is a Professor of Fetal and Placental Physiology in the Department of Physiology, Development, and Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge. She completed her PhD at the University of Adelaide before establishing her independent research programme at Cambridge through consecutive fellowships from the Australian NHMRC, the Loke Centre for Trophoblast Research, and the Royal Society. Her research focuses on how environmental and genetic factors regulate the placenta and impact long-term maternal and offspring health. Her lab collaborates extensively with other researchers and utilises lab-based models alongside donated human samples.

Amanda is passionate about mentoring and supporting others in their career development. She is actively involved in scientific communication and outreach through societies such as SRF.

She is happy to discuss any aspect related to placenta and pregnancy physiology, as well as offer advice on securing and maintaining research independence, mobility, successful collaborations, and balancing work and family life.
