The ‘Postdoctoral Scientist Prize’ is aimed at postdoctoral scientists who are within four years of having obtained their PhD. To be considered for the award, postdoctoral scientists must submit an abstract to be presented at our annual conference.

Submitted abstracts are reviewed by an independent panel and a maximum of three abstracts are short listed for oral presentation during the Postdoctoral Scientist Prize session at the annual SRF conference. Each presentation is given a total of 20 minutes during the session (15 minutes for presentation of the research and 5 minutes for discussion). The prize is awarded based on a combination of criteria which include content, presentation, delivery and discussion of the work. The award value of this prize is £300.

The 2009 Postdoctoral Scientist Prize was awarded to Dr Andrew Childs (MRC Human Reproductive Sciences Unit, Edinburgh) for his talk entitled “Dynamic changes in the expression and functionality of BMP signalling accompanies the transition from germ cell proliferation to differentiation in the human fetal ovary”.
