The SRF Academic Scholarship Fund has been established to support established SRF members develop and maintain their research programmes.
Function of the Award:
The types of activities that could be supported include (but are not limited to):
- Small pump-priming grants to generate preliminary data for a full grant proposal
- Travel and subsistence for a period of sabbatical leave
- Bridging funds to help retain staff during gaps in grant funding
The deadline for receipt of completed application forms is October 1st for awards commencing any time during the following calendar year.
Eligibility:
- The applicant must have an academic post and be continuing in that post for the duration of the award
- The applicant must be a current, fully-paid up, full member of SRF and must have been a full member for at least 5 continuous years
- The applicant must be an active member of SRF (e.g. by attending conferences, membership of committees, publishing in Reproduction). Current members of the SRF Council are not eligible for these awards.
Details of the Award:
- The maximum amount awarded will be £10,000.
- The number of awards made each year will depend on the quality of the applications received and the financial position of the society.
- Funds will be paid to the applicant’s institution.
- Funds awarded are final, do not include overheads and are not subject to appeal.
- Incomplete or late applications will not be considered
- Successful applicants will be required to submit a brief report describing how the funds were used and to acknowledge SRF in any publications arising from work supported by this fund.
- The main criteria will be the quality of the application, however if two applicants are equally rated, preference will be given to 1st time applicants
